Celery is quite healthy! He has very few calories. In China it is a great choice for losing weight. Many Chinese think that the celery is rich in important vitamins. They like to use it as a helper to lower the blood pressure and to reduce the blood fat.

In childhood I have eaten a lot of celery, as a salad, as a side dish to noodles, and very often fried. I was so glad when I first saw the celery in Supermarket. I bought immediately. I miss the taste sooooo much!

The dish has the lyrical name of “Send the Rice Down” in Chinese and the slightly more prosaic “芹菜炒肉末/Celery Beef Stir Fry” in English. But never mind the names – what you need to know is that this dish is one of the more addictive things to ever issue from my kitchen. Eating it is deeply pleasurable and almost painful because you cannot possibly eat as much of it as you would like to, lest you pop your trouser button after your third or fourth plate.

  1. Cut the celery into 1cm-1.5cm long pieces. Garlic and ginger cut very finely.
  2. Heat 3 tablespoons vegetable oil in a wok. Add the mince and fry until its color changes slightly light.
  3. Put the meat in the wok aside, add the Chinese aniseed pepper, chilli peppers, ginger and garlic in the middle, leave to simmer until the garlic has a golden color. To add dark soy sauce, mix together.
  4. Add celery pudding, fry together with all 1 minute. Then add salt and light soy sauce, fry for 1 minute.
  5. Get everything out of the pan.

All soy sauce is also salty. At the end when you taste with salt you should be careful.
Chili is optional. If this food is cooked with children, better omit the chilli.
